7 Days Mt. Kilimanjaro Climbing MARANGU ROUTE

This is meant for the strong at heart. Scale the highest Mountain in Africa, Mt. Kilimanajaro which stands 5895 Mitres Above sea level. This mountain is characterised with bushy shrubs, grasslands, rocky faces and forests. This is the most interesting active "safari" in Africa. Give it a try!

Day 1; Mombasa, Diani Beach - Marangu Hotel / Kibo Hotel

Drive across Kenya - Tanzania border point to Marangu Hotel via Moshi arriving for lunch as well as check-in. Spend afternoon preparing for next day trekking with local guides. Dinner and overnight at Marangu Hotel (lunch & Dinner).

Day 2; Marangu - Mandara Hut

Climbing begins, climb up to Mandara Hut (2742mts) near a volcanic fossil, arriving for lunch. Then rest the whole afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Mandara Hut (Full Board).

Day 3; Mandara Hut - Horombo Hut

This day special is Horombo hut (3700mts). The route takes you through heavy forest and the cross open Savannah terrain. The giant lobelias begin to appear at 3350mts. Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut (Full Board).

Day 4;Horombo Hut - Kibo Hut

Continue your ascent to the saddle (4750mts) between Mawenzi (5180mts) on your right and its Kibo on your left. Walk along the saddle for 5km, but because of the attitude. The temperature is quite low and then walk is made at a slow pace. Dinner and overnight at Kibo Hut ( Full Board)

Day 5;Kibo Hut - Horombo Hut

Rise early and start the final ascent to Gilman's 5685mts at the rim of the crater. At Gilman's witness the spectacular and unforgettable rise on the sun over Mawenzi. After signing the book, proceed to Uhuru peak 5895mts. If your staming survives return Horombo for the overnight at Horombo Hut ( Full Board )

Day 6;Horombo Hut - Marangu

This is the last day of the climb and you will return to Marangu or kibo hotel to a deserved comfortable night's rest after your memorable achievement. Dinner and Overnight at Marangu Hotel (Full Board).

Day 7;Marangu-Mombasa, Diani

After breakfast drive to Mombasa via Taveta with picnic lunch, arriving in afternoon.
